The WashU McKelvey School of Engineering’s BME PhD retreat, held on September 12, 2025, featured a spirited Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Sarah Zhang placed second with her talk, “Focused Ultrasound (FUS) Unlocking the Brain’s Immune Connections.”
The 3MT competition challenges PhD students to explain their research in a clear and concise way, having only three minutes and one static slide to do so. The event not only showcased the innovative research happening in the department, but also highlighted the importance of communicating science effectively and accessibly.
Congratulations to Sarah on her outstanding performance in the competition!
